Jared Goff, the Detroit Lions quarterback, is entering the final year of his deal, but the team is apparently contemplating a hefty reward for him this offseason.
During an appearance on SportsCenter on Sunday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler stated that Goff is anticipated to receive a contract deal of $45-50 million yearly. According to Fowler, while there is mutual interest between the two parties, the agreement still needs to be worked out.
“He wants to be present. Only 29 years old and set to make around $28 million this year, he’ll need to be in the $45-$50 million range based on how he’s played. So, it will take some time to have that done. Fowler
Goff helped the Lions win their first division title since 1993 last season, finishing second in the NFL with 4,575 passing yards and fourth with 30 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. Detroit advanced to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the San Francisco 49ers.
Goff’s career has been up and down since the Los Angeles Rams selected him with the first overall choice in the 2016 NFL draft. The three-time Pro Bowler found his footing with the Lions, and he has no plans to leave anytime soon.
