Senior Broncos players have reportedly approached coach Kevin Walters in an attempt to persuade the club to sign Tevita Pangai Junior.
According to The Courier Mail, Payne Haas and vice-captain Pat Carrigan are among those looking to recruit the middle forward.
Skipper Adam Reynolds is also in favor of the idea, aiming to relieve strain on the club during an injury crisis that has claimed numerous vital players.
Broncos players reportedly approached Walters about Pangai Junior six weeks ago, before Haas, Reynolds, and, most recently, Reece Walsh were injured.
Pangai Junior, 28, left the Bulldogs in August of last year to pursue a career in professional boxing.
However, he has returned to rugby league this season, playing for the Broncos’ Queensland Cup affiliate, Souths Logan.
The former Broncos and Panthers prop is allegedly willing to accept a salary less than $300,000 this season.
He was released by the Brisbane club midway through the 2021 season after violating NRL rules during the epidemic by visiting a barbershop the year before.
