Darren Lockyer has chastised the North Queensland forward pack for a “lack of aggression” following a dismal performance against the Sharks.
The Cowboys, who were one of the preseason favourites, were thrashed 42-6 on the road by Cronulla on Sunday.
Their performance was highlighted by 39 missed tackles and 12 errors, while Jason Taumalolo’s steady decline was evident once more.
Despite being the 2016 Dally M Medal winner, he only had five carries for 43 metres against the Sharks, causing concern about his impact and minutes.

Heilum Luki’s absence in recent weeks has harmed the Cowboys, and Coen Hess’ season-ending injury has left a huge hole in the middle of the field.
On Nine’s QLDER, Lockyer voiced unhappiness with the team’s energy and questioned their defensive approach.
“When they’re on, they are as good as any team in the competition and particularly their attack – but they just have these lapses,” he went on to say.
