Done Deal: Just Wolverines Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Star

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith made it clear what he thought of Michigan’s recent three-game winning streak against the Buckeyes on the football field. They shouldn’t count at all, considering the Wolverines’ recent sign-stealing accusations.

When asked by Ohio State’s NPR affiliate whether Michigan’s victories should be marked with an asterisk, he joked, “Of course I do.”

“The rules are in place to protect the integrity of the game, and we do our best to create a level playing field,” Smith stated on All Sides With Anna Staver. “When those rules are broken, it damages the principles. We need to keep that in perspective.”

The NCAA’s examination into those charges continues.

Smith will retire from Ohio State in July after overseeing the athletic department since 2005. In his final season, the Buckeyes will host the Wolverines in Columbus, with the early consensus being that OSU would be favored.

“We host that team up north this fall, and I’m assuming it’ll be what it’s always been,” Smith stated.
