The Detroit Lions brutally cut the defensive lineman Buggs on Tuesday as Week 18 of the NFL slate starts this weekend.

The 27-year-old wrote: “Thank You Detroit For Everything The Past Year Has Been Amazing From Meeting New People Playing With Great Teammates But The Time Has Come For Me To Say Goodbye.

“Detroit 96 Out.”

The Lions cut Buggs to have a spot on the 53-man roster as they are set to activate defensive lineman Alim McNeill off of injured reserve this week.

Cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson and edge rusher James Houston are also designated for return from injured reserve.

Detroit has a 11-5 record and will have a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

As for Buggs, he was a Pittsburgh Steelers sixth-round draft pick in 2019.

The Louisiana native played 29 games in three seasons for the Steelers and posted 31 total tackles, and one pass defended.

Detroit signed Buggs in 2022 and he started in 13 games, recording 46 total tackles, one forced fumble, one sack, and 10 quarterback hits.

He signed a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Lions this season.

Buggs was active for 10 games this season, but only played in 40% of the team’s defensive snaps.

The Alabama product only totaled 12 tackles and hasn’t appeared in the Lions’ last two games.

Detroit will have to owe Buggs just one more game check if he’s not claimed by Wednesday.
