Predators key player suspended for 15 games…….

With the Nashville Predators’ season ending about two weeks ago and their final press conference held, the offseason is starting to arrive more and more.

Barry Trotz, the general manager, stated that he plans to add players to the squad more quickly and youthfully and that he will give equal weight to trades and free agency.

Trotz recognized that owing to cap restrictions, sacrifices will need to be made, acknowledging that it will be impossible to enhance the squad and bring everyone back. The Predators should consider making a deal for Gustav Nyquist if they want to improve the team’s overall performance and make their squad younger.

He just finished an incredible career year in which he scored 75 points in 81 games and displayed excellent chemistry with both Filip Forsberg and Ryan O’Reilly. Given Nyquist’s significance to the Predators this season, some may find it difficult to let him go, but doing so will almost certainly position them for future success rather than holding onto him.

Nyquist has one more year left on his deal after joining the Predators during the offseason. Although he was primarily brought in as a stopgap for the starting six, he had the potential to be a fantastic value addition to the group, and wow, was that ever the case.

Nyquist broke over his peak performance levels rather than just reaching them. He completely outperformed his prior point totals and was a major facilitator on one of the hockey team’s most reliable top lines.

At his peak, Nyquist was regarded as a low-end first line forward; most astonishingly, he accomplished this at the age of 34. He exceeded expectations by a significant margin this year, and the Predators were capable of much more as a result. What he achieved was something that nobody could have predicted, not even in their wildest fantasies.

Most would contend that the Predators have never had a lethal top line in their club history.
