Fans express joy as Fremantle dockers beat St Kilda in hot race to sign star man from

The legendary  footballer Kane Cornes is still not happy about AFL players being given long-term contracts; Sean Darcy is the most recent to sign a long-term agreement with Fremantle. The Dockers revealed on Wednesday that Darcy had signed a massive contract extension that would keep him with the team for at least six more seasons.

Given that Darcy’s contract expires the next year, several Victorian clubs, most notably Geelong, were allegedly interested in signing him. Though the 25-year-old signed a long-term contract with the Dockers, it seems that the temptation of going back to his home state wasn’t enough.

Darcy was eager to prepare for the 2024 season even though he was unable to watch AFL finals football. In the announcement, he stated, “We just need to get stuck into it and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

“I have complete faith in our group, our plan, what we’re creating, and everything that lies ahead. We’re not hiding from the fact that last season was a little underwhelming. Everyone agrees that improvement is necessary, and improvement must happen rapidly. It’s quite thrilling because we’re pushing each other every day to bring out the best in each other.”
