With spring training fast approaching, both the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies are facing pressure to strengthen their rosters. Competing in highly challenging divisions, the two clubs risk falling behind rivals such as the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox, all of whom have made notable offseason moves.

The Phillies made one key addition by signing Adolis García in free agency. However, uncertainty still surrounds their outfield depth, particularly with Nick Castellanos’ long-term future with the team appearing uncertain. As a result, Philadelphia could explore a potential trade for Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez. A recent FanSided report outlined a possible deal that could benefit both teams.

Spencer Jones of the Yankees Joins the Prospect Pad

According to FanSided analyst Christopher Kline, Dominguez may not have a clear role with the Yankees due to their crowded outfield. Kline suggests that moving the young switch-hitter could help New York strengthen its pitching pipeline. He proposed a trade that would send Dominguez to Philadelphia in exchange for right-handed pitching prospects Zach McCambley and Jean Cabrera.

Kline also noted that Dominguez could initially serve as a fourth outfielder for the Phillies, depending on Justin Crawford’s performance during spring training. However, with consistent playing time, Dominguez has the potential to secure a starting left field role by the postseason. His power hitting and versatility make him an attractive option for Philadelphia, particularly as the team looks to add more offensive strength to its lineup.

Meanwhile, the Yankees continue to develop outfield prospect Spencer Jones. Although Jones has slipped out of MLB’s top 100 prospect rankings, he could still emerge as another potential trade asset for New York as the organization evaluates its roster needs.
